This newletter is all about being "grounded". I look at why we need to be grounded and how you can tell when you're not, as well as giving you some quick techniques to ground yourself. This is probably even more important for you with the coming silly season.

I will be here for Christmas this year and so I will be available for in-person or distant healing sessions during this period.

Are You Grounded?

Have you noticed there are times when you feel quite spacey or vague? It might feel like you are floating along and it is difficult to pull your attention to what you are doing. If this sounds familiar, it’s likely that you are not grounded.

Grounding can be defined as focusing your energy in the physical realm. While the floaty feeling can be nice, it actually means you’re not present, or fully “in-the-moment”, and it is important that you re-establish your connection to the earth. To someone with clairvoyant sight, your energy bodies literally look like they are floating out of your body, rather than being strongly anchored through your physical body into the earth.

The earth provides us with an important source of energy, helping us to maintain our health and vitality. You may have heard people telling you of the need to connect to source/the universe/ higher self/ etc through your crown chakra, but it is equally important to have a strong connection through your base and lower energy centres to the earth. It may help to imagine a column of light going through us from top to bottom, connecting more source of energy to another. This connection allows us to access our full power and potential as both spiritual and physical beings.

In the sections below, I have listed different techniques you can use to ground yourself. When you try some of the grounding exercises below, you may notice a buzzy, tingly feeling in feet and legs as you bring the earth energy up through your body.

Grounding Meditation

This grounding focus is something I learnt at a Barbara Brennan Healing Science workshop and found to be very effective and energizing. It is part of a larger process to help align your hara line. Quick Grounding Techniques

Visualisations

  • Imagine stepping into a puddle of bright red water. As you are standing in the puddle, imagine that the water starts to rise slowly going right up to your middle. Now allow the water to slowly drain away, until there is just a shallow pool left that you can easily step out of.
  • Walk heavily by stamping your feet with each step.
  • Imagine you are a tree and imagine roots growing from feet deep down into the earth, keeping you anchored even in strong winds.
  • Find some earth (in a garden or park) and sit or lie on it. Feel the energy of the earth seeping into your body. Alternatively, find a big solid tree and sit with your back to the tree.

Australian Bush Flower Essences

  • Red Lilly: Being grounded and balanced whist pursuing one's spiritual practice.
  • Sundew: Being grounded and paying attention to detail in day-to-day activity or at any time when there is a lack of consciousness.

Crystals
Wear or hold crystals like: Smokey quartz, obsidian or red agate
