Coping with Change

There is a lot of change happening globally and individually for most of us at the moment. It can be scary, but it is important to remember that change is actually a natural part of our life and enables us to grow. Yet most of us fiercely resist it. We try to maintain control and hang on to the status quo at any cost. While uncertainty and new things can be stressful or unsettling, it causes us even more stress when we try to hold back change.

If we can accept that change is inevitable, and usually does bring some growth for us, it is easier to let go of our resistance and go along for the ride.

Very few of us can accurately see or know what the future holds. Even good clairvoyants only see one potential future, and that can easily change depending on decisions or choices made along the way. So it is impossible to know the future outcome of a change, even if we spend all our time trying to analyse it and sort it out in our heads. It is a complete waste of our energy!

As with most healing, the first step in dealing with change is acceptance. If we can accept that change is happening, we can start to go with the flow. We then create the space to be able to remain present enough to make necessary decisions as they arise, with the information we have at hand. Looking too far ahead and trying to work it all out in your head, just jams the circuits again and creates huge stress.

So to help you get out of your head, you can bring your focus to a space in the centre of your chest and to your breath. Maintain this focus and return to it if you notice you are starting to think or worry about the future again. Thinking too much just makes things worse.

The positive result of change is that is gets you out of the tired, stale and predictable. Things become interesting again. You gain a heightened sense of alertness.

If you are finding it hard to see the positive aspect of change or it all becomes overwhelming, find a practitioner who can help you overcome your fears, resistance and ease your stress.

Enjoy the adventure!

Stress Management

Certain Flower Essences can provide support when you are feeling stressed about change. The essences are usually available in health or specialty food stores or online. The essences contain a vibrational imprint that helps to correct imbalances in our emotional health and wellbeing. Each essence helps with a certain aspect of our emotional wellbeing. They are simple to take, just a few drops twice or 4 times a day, according to the instructions on the bottle, for at least 2 weeks.

Listed below are a number of essences that can help with different aspects of dealing with change:

Bach Flower Essences:

Walnut – protection from change, sensitivity to outside influences, link breaker.

Wild Oat - unsure of path in life, undecided what to do.

Scleranthus – indecision and hesitancy, uncertainty, lack of balance.

Oak – exhausted, but struggling on.
