The therapeutic and medicinal properties of
plants have long been recognised for herbal remedies to
treat physical ailments, as well as vibrational essences
to treat emotional imbalances. However, Dr Edward Bach (1886-1936)
is credited with the recent popularising of flower essences,
after he developed the well-known range of Bach
Flower Remedies more than sixty years ago.
Dr Bach had been a successful doctor in Harley St, London,
but became a homeopath in his quest to treat his patients
in a more holistic manner. Continuing his search to relieve
human suffering, he spent the last six years of his life
developing his flower remedies. He wanted to find something
that anyone could use for their own healing and growth,
regardless of whether they were being treated by a physician
or therapist.
Recognising the connection between mental and physical
health, Dr Bach developed 38 individual remedies
to treat emotional imbalances. His “Rescue
Remedy”, a combination of 5 of the individual
remedies, is now widely available in pharmacies, as well
as Natural Health Food and specialty stores.
Flower essences work at an extremely
subtle level. Each essence is associated with a
certain mental/emotional state or a personality trait. The
essences provide their vibration (or energy wavelength)
to our energy system, which helps to correct the imbalances
that create undesired mental and emotional states.
Nowadays, there are many other varieties of flower remedies
available, including the range of Australian Bush
Flower Essences (see list below). There are also
many different vibrational essences that include Shell
& Coral Essences, crystals, colours, sacred/environmental
sites and more, each with their own unique healing qualities.
The range of essences that are available can seem overwhelming,
so the best way to choose is to pick one quality/state you
wish to work with and look for the essence that best addresses
this issue. Or just choose the range of essences you are
most attracted to, and work with these. Alternatively, find
a practitioner that can dowse or muscle test the priority
essences for your needs.
Flower Essences are extremely safe, have
no side effects, are non-habit forming and can be used safely
with prescription drugs and other therapeutic treatments.
The only qualification I would make is that it is best not
to take too many different ones at once. [Please ask
me, if you have any queries about this.] Flower essences
can be safely used with children, animals and ... yes, even
plants!
Some of the more popular flower and environmental
essences are listed below. It’s worth having
a look at the individual essences and what they can be used
for, because they are a great healing resource
for all!
